WEEKEND JOURNAL

Sunday, July 23, 2023 Here’s what’s goin’ on in my life, and here’s what I’m doin’ about it. Yesterday was a calm, warm, and sunny day in Nipper’s Corner. Nipper’s corner, at the corner of Edmondson Pike and Old Hickory Blvd in South Nashville, was so named after Walter Nipper, who, besides Nashville Sporting Goods, owned a nursery at the northeast corner of that intersection when OHB was but a two-lane road with a few…

Here’s the review quickly. Though its a review of the last week, it’s actually a review of the last six or so. I have had to go up against a flair-up of my multiple sclerosis, a stroke, weeks of physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy. It all culminated in a surgical procedure on my right carotid artery. Simultaneously, my new friend, Substack cut off my four newsletters without answering my requests for reasons. My…

Only 3 Things You Can Do With Your NICHE.

It’s what you do with the niche, not the niche itself. When I was starting to write on Medium, I was told several things in all the reading and exploring I did in the beginning. “You must pick a niche,” they all said. “Niche down and specialize, to get more involved readers.” “Niche up, to have a larger universe of readers.” “Niche down, for long-tail keywords, to help rank you higher.” “Niche up to help…

How You Can Have a Full-Time Job and Write for Medium, too.

I love to write. I love to write for Medium. The problem. Writing along with a full-time job. I wish I could do it more, but I have a full-time job. So I have to do both, or quit one, and I am not in a position to just quit my job, and I have no desire to quit writing. Balancing a full-time job and writing for Medium can be challenging but certainly possible with…
