My Impostor Syndrome Can Beat Your Impostor Syndrome.

Not long ago, I wrote that my impostor syndrome as a writer could beat your impostor syndrome. Here

Previously, I talked about my Impostor Syndrome here and here and in the beginning here.

In my quixotic search for the cause of my health condition, I have discovered the final frontier of impostorism. Why is a diagnosis so elusive?

I am not the only impostor here.

We all may be impostors at some level. We all have doubts and uncertainties. We all feel as though we’re out in front of our skis sometimes.

TV repairmen have tube testers. (What?) Taxi drivers have GPSes. Politicians and media moguls have focus groups. Doctors have X-rays and magnetic imaging.

On the field of play.

Professionals don’t have all the answers. “Let me check with my manager,” quoth the auto salesman.

Doctors even have laptops in their examining rooms, “this is what your nose should look like….”

Only impostors would invent “referrals” and “specialists.”

This brings me great comfort, knowing that none of us are born with all we will ever need and that our lives are a process of adding experience and knowledge. We are each at different points on our journeys.

Not impostors, underclassmen.

Thanks!

Neither of my high school English teachers thought I would ever amount to much. Well, I showed them — now I’m a big-time writer!
